Yet another street fair, Oct 2009 - 79
Here's another example of a phenomenon that I don't think you would have seen a year ago: a food vendor wearing sterile gloves, as he slathers butter and salt on an ear of hot, roasted corn.
Note: this photo was published in an undated (Jul 2010) iFoodtv blog titled "Corn kebab photos." It was also published in a Jan 6, 2011 blog titled "How can I make money really fast online?" It was also published in a Jan 10, 2011 "lLearn-2-Earn-Online blog, with the same title and caption as what I had written on this Flickr page. And it was published in an Apr 20, 2011 blog titled "How to Get Into The Market To Make Money Online." It was also published in a Jul 25, 2011 issue of MyCityCuisine.org with the rather unusual title of "File:Rco3." And it was published in a Sep 29, 2011 blog titled "2 Ways To Make Money With Twitter." It was also published in an Oct 31, 2011 blog titled "Cool Money With Clickbank images."
Moving into 2012, the photo was published in a Jan 8, 2012 blog titled "How to Make Money From a Blog"

Another Sunday, another street fair. Last Sunday, it started at 96th Street and stretched north up to 106th on Broadway; today it started at 96th Street, and worked its way down to 86th Street. But aside from that, it was pretty much the same: same vendors, same cheap chachka merchandise. Same booths, as I noted last week, selling reggae music, discount subscriptions to the New York Times, and chiropractors earnestly telling passers-by how they can make anyone's back feel good once again. Same volunteer organizations beseeching tourists and residents for donations to various worthy causes. Same gyros, sausage, souvlaki, corn on the cob, candy apples, lemonade, French crepes, hot dogs, calzone, funnel cake, zeppoles, shish kebab, pickles, olives, french fries, onion rings, spring rolls, and Thai food. The roasted corn on the cob has been especially popular; it seems that almost everyone is munching away on the stuff.
As I noted last week, it's the people who change from one fair to another; and while a neighborhood fair might attract the same people week after week, I didn't see any familiar faces. Once again, I set my camera to optimize the likelihood of getting some decent "hip shots" (for those who care: wide-angle setting on the zoom lens, aperture-priority with f/8, ISO 800 to force the auto-exposure mechanism to shoot at fast shutter speeds of approx 1/400 second), and just wandered down Broadway, pointing the camera at anyone that looked interesting. There were a couple of bands, and three different blues/rock musicians wailing away, and I had a good time trying to capture a visual representation of their music ...
Altogether, I shot roughly 700 photographs, and I expect that I'll end up with about 70 keepers. But it will take me a while to get through them all, and I'll probably upload about 10 images a day for the next week. And hopefully, that will be the last of the street fairs on this side of town ... until next spring.
